Went on a hiking trip recently to big mountains and stuff.

It was neat with a group.

At the beginning, they had to guide on the bus to kick things off.

And he was saying, you know, welcome everybody.

And, you know, we're going to go out into these mountains.

And it's amazing.

And then he paused.

And then he said, let's just take a moment and remember the people who used to own this land and do own this land.

And he named the native groups that used to live there.

So it's a land acknowledgement.

Okay.

Which is a fairly common thing to do.

But it struck me that we humans have to acknowledge or thank somebody for something

that's that magisterially beautiful.

We had to stop and we had to get sacred for a moment, didn't we?

Yeah.

We have to.

And in fact, at the next stop, it was a different guide, but he stopped down before a meal and said, okay, I mean, it's beautiful mountains outside the windows. He stopped before the meal and said, hey, let's, let's remember that the animals were here before any humans. So let's just be aware of that. And let's just, you know, thank the animals.

Like, we feel like we have to thank somebody.
