| 0:00.0 | Hello, everybody. Welcome to shift F1 podcast about speedy race cars. I am Drew Scanlon joining me. We have Rob Zackney. How are you, Rob? |
| 0:25.3 | Doing just great. Missing Danny, but doing just great. Well, my heart will go on. |
| 0:30.4 | Danny of Dwyer is on assignment this week. If you are new to this podcast, there's usually three of us, but we used to get along with just two. So I think we'll be fine. |
| 0:42.6 | Danny, you are missed. If you're new to Formula One itself, we've got an episode just for you. Our preseason primer assumes no prior F1 knowledge and explains how the sport works and who everybody is. So if you'd like to go back and listen to that, get up to speed. |
| 0:57.8 | So to speak on Formula One. And then if you will understand everything that we say in this subsequent parts of this podcast, you can go listen to episode 216, also the show supported entirely by our audience over at patreon.com slash shift F1, where every month we release |
| 1:16.8 | a bonus podcast and videos exclusively for our patrons, the cover racing documentaries and films, F1 video games, experiments with other racing series and a lot of weird things. So if you would like to support the show and get access to all that fun stuff, head over to patreon.com slash shift F1 or click the link in the show notes. Rob, but we just recorded and posted our Indie car primer, which is sort of doing the same thing that we do every year with our F1 primer, but for Indie car, I had a lot of fun recording it. |
| 1:45.0 | It was a blast and I'm glad we timed it when we did because it was just in time for a very good long beach GP. So it was a great, it was a great show and a great time to get into Indie car. |
| 1:58.3 | Yes. But we would be remiss if we did not mention our title sponsors over on patreon. There are many tears that you can join, but these folks have joined the ones that get their names read out on the top of the show. |
| 2:13.2 | In alphabetical order, order starting with special characters we have at talking autos, at team blackjack, hashtag bunny crimes, Abdullah Althani, Abraham Getchal, Alex Gouche, Alex Medina, Bailey foot, circuit demon, Drew Stewart, Gordy's army, umberto roca, ironstation.dev, Irvine clinical research, Jason Chadwick, Jason Kelly, kick a ha of the art. |
| 2:40.4 | Lacklin the Madden Man, Max Voltar, Michael Maves, Olivia Evans, Snigs, Syphus training, turf, SCS, telemetrydeck.com, Tiger Wood, Troy Stammer, and William romp. A couple of new names in there. Yeah. |
| 2:58.2 | Thank you, everyone who supports us on Patreon. This episode is a little different because we are in the Gulf of no F1. |
| 3:08.8 | We're right in between. We're right where China should have been. Yeah, this never happens and that's by design. Yes, like this, this little dip in F1 activity does not exist once the F1 calendar gets rolling except for the three week break. |
| 3:24.6 | Right. It usually happens in the summer. All bet formula one is pretty pived at this because, you know, beginning of the season, they're coming off of that drive to survive hide that they get every year when it releases just before the season starts. |
| 3:38.4 | And to have it kind of dip right now is like really killer to the momentum. |
| 3:44.2 | But we are going to hold it down with some news and some emails. So join us. Won't you. We're going to start with something a follow on story from the Australian Grand Prix. |
| 3:57.4 | Carlos signs crashed into Fernando Alonzo during the final standing restart. If you ever watched that race, boy, there was a lot going on. We did multiple standing restarts in one of them signs. |
| 4:12.2 | As I said, crashing to Flint, Fernando Alonzo and was issued a penalty, a small relatively small, five second penalty, but because everyone was bunched up at the end of the race, he fell from fourth place to 12 effectively last of the runners with a five second penalty. |
| 4:33.2 | And he and Ferrari went back to the FIA, the governing body behind forming the one and requested a review of the penalty. They signs especially said that it was just way too harsh. |
| 4:49.2 | Especially because as we pointed out in our post-Australia episode, the whole thing was mooted because that incident was effectively erased by them resetting the grid for the final restart. |
| 5:06.2 | But that's not how the stewards think and the stewards have summarily declined dismissed this request for a new hearing. |
| 5:17.2 | Saying quote, there is no significant and relevant new element, which was unavailable to the parties seeking the review at the time of the decision concerned, the position is there for dismissed. |
| 5:31.2 | First of all, Rob, what do you think of that? |
