0:04.0	Let everybody know who you are and what you do in the state of Idaho.

0:07.0	Well, I am a state senator.
0:09.0	One of the 35 state senators in Idaho, I'm from District 5, which is Laitau County and Benawa
0:16.7	County, which is kind of unique because it's a split district in the sense that Benawa County is extremely conservative and
0:24.3	Laita tends to be not so conservative. I ran for sheriff here in 2016 and narrowly
0:31.9	lost that I thought I was done with running for office and
0:35.9	then was asked to run by the Republican Party in this district, asked to run for Senate because they had a young man drop out.
0:45.8	He was the nominee and he dropped out of the race.
0:50.2	So I said, okay, I gave it some thought and said I'll do it we ran and we won
0:56.1	One by 330 votes which is a standard margin okay in this district and had one session under my belt down in Boise.
1:06.0	That was January, February, March of this year.
1:10.0	And it was an eye-opener.
1:13.0	It wasn't quite what I expected, but...
1:15.0	Why was that?
1:17.0	Well, I didn't expect the quality of the legislators to be as high and as good and as solid as it is.
1:28.0	I knew they'd be good people and accomplished people but they're exceptional people really.
1:35.5	Very well accomplished, they've done a lot in their lives and they're very dedicated to making Idaho a better place to live.
