Why would Jesus say take up your cross?

Because your cross is needed in the equation.

Yeah, your cross is very much a part of the equation for people to be blessed by the cross of Christ.

Your cross comes into the picture.

And there is no gospel without you also taking your cross.

The gospel is riding on the waves of the cross of Christ and on your cross.

The gospel of Jesus is going to the ends of the world based on the cross of Christ and on your cross.
