narcissism gets its name, of course, from Narcissus, who's a character in Greek mythology,

who goes to, I think it's a lake or a pond and sees his own reflection and falls so in love with himself that he will neither eat nor drink nor move until he can be with this reflection we love so much and ultimately dies, right?

Yeah, so captivated he is rooted to the spot. You remember how the myth ends, right?
