Boys podcast. Dan, thanks for joining me on today's show. Great to be here. Eric, thanks for having me.

I got your book a long time ago and have been waiting to have this conversation for a while. I'm

excited. It's finally happening. And yeah, I mean, first and foremost, you have a pretty

unique story. And I think it's interesting how much crossover there is between your,

your quote unquote, normal life and kind of your spiritual life, trying to figure out where you

belong, where do you fit. So can you just give us a little bit of context to your background,

like what your life growing up was like and how that kind of played into your experience

of examining evangelicalism? Absolutely. So I'm originally from where I am right now, Honolulu,

Hawaii. I'm by Rachel. My mom is Chinese American, been in Hawaii for generations, going back to the 1800s, her side of the family.

My dad is white, although he passed away 15 years ago, and he's originally from the Bay Area.

And my parents met here in Honolulu. I was the firstborn kid. I grew up in a church plant in the suburbs that was really a

house church model that was in my living room. My parents weren't pastors. My dad was a dentist

and my mom was a school counselor, but they were really involved in the church plant. So I grew up
