The Battle of Britain was caused by the German plans for an invasion.

Their goal was to send a force across the English Channel that was strong enough to force

a British surrender.

It would have been the largest amphibious assault in history up to that time.

And in some versions of the plan,

it would have been bigger than the invasion of Normandy.

But it would never happen.

Operation Sea Lion was an impossible dream, not a realistic or rational plan, and as the

weeks ticked by in the autumn of 1940, the Vermacht would also prove itself unable to meet

even the prerequisites of that operation.

Even though it would never occur, understanding the Battle of Britain and the actions of the Luftwaffe,
