And you're listening to The Important Cinema Club. And today, we're talking about a big subject that we somehow have never gotten to before. And that is writer-director, producer, Phil Tucker.

Yeah, people have really been clamoring for this one. They've just

been beating down the doors. Where's the Phil Tucker episode? Phil Tucker has a small but real

contribution to film history, which is when you think of the iconic images of film, you know,

you may think of Harold Lloyd hanging off the clock tower.

You may think of Humphrey Bogart and Ingrid Bergman standing by that plane at the end of Casablanca.

You may think of Orson Wells in front of that giant picture of himself.

Or you may think of a guy in a gorilla suit wearing a diving helmet.

That is correct.

That is Phil Tucker's great legacy.

Phil Tucker,

to those who are interested in 50s sci-fi monster movies, he's a reputation as being the other Ed Wood. But unlike Ed Wood, there was never really that much of a story there.

Like, nobody talked about Phil Tucker's life in the same way that Wood would often be

associated with the many films that he made.

And while if you look at Phil Tucker's IMDB, it looks like he made a bunch of films when

in reality, he made Robot Monster, Cape Canaveral Monsters, Dance Hall Racket, and all the other

ones are mostly just burlesque films where he spent

a night filming a burlesque performance and that's all it was. And there's kind of the,

the dark matter of his filmography, which are the movies that like were barely released,

that weren't released. There are still some question marks around the Phil Tucker

filmography that nobody is seeking to provide an answer to
