I was 13 years old living in Michigan with my family, so that was three years ago.

The night was warm and humid.

I was in my aunt's farmhouse reading in the guest room when my uncle yelled to me,

Ricky, get down here.

I rushed down the stairs to see my uncle in the doorway.

What happened? I asked.

He pointed to a chicken or what was left of a chicken.

There wasn't much, and I couldn't tell until he told me what it was.

Oh God, I said, quickly getting nauseous.
