Now today's episode I feel is long overdue.

I'm surprised we have not already had this conversation.

But on today's episode I have the one and only Jeffrey Miller who is a well-known evolutionary

psychologist and a very interesting thinker out there in the world today.

So welcome to the show Jeffrey how you doing.

Thanks great to be here Zubi.

Awesome. So I've done a brief intro there Jeffrey but for people who are not familiar with you and some of your work

please tell them a little bit about you.

I've been involved in this field of evolutionary psychology for about 30 years you know ever since

grad school with Stanford and what we try to do is understand human nature and the origins of

human preferences and desires and motions motivations all the kind of architecture that makes us

human and we try to understand where does that come from how does it work how does it play out

in modern life so it worked on a huge range of stuff like human intelligence creativity language

art music a lot on mating and mate choice and why we're attracted to certain things

and other people both males and females particularly like mental traits that are attractive not

just physical traits and more recently I've gotten involved in things like the effective

altruism movement which is about how to do the most good that you can based on reason and evidence

I'm quite interested in global catastrophic risks that confront civilization and humanity

and I'm pretty active on Twitter as primal poly awesome well there's so much that we can

that we can get into on that but before we dive right into it Jeffrey tell me a little bit more
