Hi everybody, this is Joe Lampel, the Joe Behind Joe Gardner, and welcome to the Joe Gardner

Show.

So this term, Hugo Culture, have you ever heard of it before?

Maybe recently, but only in the past few years for the most part, at least that was the

case for me.

And then I started hearing it all the time, probably going to back about three years now.

And lately it seems to come up a lot, especially since COVID.

Because I suppose it's with the cost of soil and the price of lumber, skyrocketing these

days, building a new garden or even adding new beds to a home garden can be a cost prohibitive

project for many.

So as gardeners are looking for ways to save money, the practice of Hugo Culture, adding

soil on top of logs, yes, that's really what it means.

And yes, this is a German word, is becoming more and more popular as a way to create new

garden beds.

Now it's not probably the type of bed that you picture when you think of a garden bed.

In fact, it's quite unique.
