Canal was released in 2014. It is 5.8 out of 10 on IMDB and 72% on Rotten Tomatoes.

David and his family move into a period house by a canal and dismiss rumors of the place being haunted.

David starts having nightmarish visions when he suspects his wife is cheating,

and he begins to descend into madness. I feel like that particular synopsis is very oversimplified,

so to give you kind of a more well-rounded idea of the story, yes, David and his family move into

a period house by canal, so there's him and his wife and his little boy, and they are living a normal

happy life, and David is an archivist, and he receives these old videos to work through,

and the videos demonstrate that there was a murder in his house many years previously in the

early 1900s, and in this murder, the husband had killed his wife because she was cheating,

right? So that's the kind of premise of the story you learn that very early on, and this film

was not one that I was aware of. I don't know where I saw it, maybe on a list of like underrated

horror films, it kind of simultaneously has like both the ring and sinister vibes,

so it has the ring vibes in that you get a lot of shots of, you know, creepy images that seem

to be really old from really old film, the images of the murder from the 1900s. It's on this

really old film reel, and it's quite spooky in the way that it's shot, and you have these shots

of like operations and dead bodies and all this weird shit that is very reminiscent of
