All right, welcome back to day three of our deep dive into Ephesians chapter 5, specifically on what it

means to be a godly husband. Now we'll get to the specific verses where Paul addresses how husbands

are to be mutually submitted under their wives out of reverence for Christ.

Verse 25 says, husbands, love your wives.

As Christ loved the church and gave himself up for her, that he might sanctify her,

having cleansed her by the washing of water with the word, so that he might present the church

to himself in splendor without spot or wrinkle or any such thing that she might be holy and without blemished and then when you get down to verse 33 he says however let each one of you love his wife as himself so what does it mean to love her as christ loved the church? Now, reminder, you can't pull this off on your own.

That if you don't know Jesus, there's no way that you're going to be able to love her as Christ

love the church if you don't know the love of Jesus. First John, chapter four, verse seven says this,

Beloved, let us love one another for love is God, and whoever loves has been born of God and

knows God, and anyone who does not love does not know God because God is love. In this, the love of God

was made manifest among us, that God sent his only son into the world that we might live through him.

In this is love, not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his son

to be the propitiation for our sin. Beloved, if God so loved us, we also ought to love one another.

No one has ever seen God. If we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected

in us. And then you skip down to verse 19,

and the Bible says, we love because he first loved us. So husbands, we are called to love our
