Summary

Stephanie Wittels Wachs is an absolute joy to connect with and she has a brilliant way (perhaps much like her late brother Harris Wittels, renowned comedian/writer/actor) of making the most uncomfortable topic oddly comfortable. Rachael and Stephanie both hope to humanize the epidemic of substance abuse disorder and inspire you to want to help make a well-deserved change. Her podcast "Last Day" started as a journey to discover "what happened, and what could we have done differently" in the tragic loss of her brother to a heroin overdose. She's a brilliant comedic mind in her own right, one tough cookie, an author, and a guiding light of how one can find purpose and love in the most tragic of life circumstances.

slowed down my elaborate cooking

Yeah, well, I guess it is a pretty elaborate lunch, but fairly standard for me like I'm not doing like well, I guess when I go to the desert finally like

accidentally quarantined with my sister and her two kids because they flew to the desert right

1:04.8

when this all happened and then we're stuck there. So then eventually my sister

1:10.4

and her kids got to leave because they kept canceling flights so they just left about a week ago but then my mom had to self-couroutine because to go home before she can go home to my dad which is kind of like it makes sense but then she's getting on a flight but they're just doing all the things to minimize risk because you know my dad has cancer but he's fine don't worry and just you know both my parents are over 60 and sorry for outing you parents you look

1:35.1

honest not a day over 40 all right but yeah so finally she's going to be

1:42.1

1:49.8

You know explore my space if you will so probably be back to making like

1:53.9

homemade dumplings and stuff but anyway um how are you guys doing how's you what's your

1:59.8

quarantine eating cooking style.

I'm sure, well, unless you haven't lost your job,

2:08.6

I'm sure we're all kind of struggling to put things together because it's hard to get groceries and try not to spend money.

2:12.0

I mean, that is why I've been cooking so much at home because

2:14.4

I'm really trying not to order take out as much as I would love to support local businesses and when I have the money I am doing it,

2:21.1

but it is just smarter at this time for me to cook at home.

2:25.0

But yeah, actually one of my listeners sent me, I'm sorry Haley, I haven't responded to the
