Summary

On January 7th, 1997, the owner of the Best Budget Inn in Oklahoma City was beaten to death with a baseball bat at his motel by admitted killer, thief, and methamphetamine addict Justin Sneed. Mr. Sneed, fearful of the death penalty, falsely accused his boss, Richard Glossip, of masterminding the murder for hire plot in exchange for leniency. Now, Richard sits on death row in Oklahoma where his time is running out. 0:06.7	Inn, where he was responsible for large sums of cash belonging to its owner, Barry Bantreese,
0:12.3	cash that he could have stolen at any time without violence. A traveling ruffer and methatic
0:17.9	named Justin Sneed began staying at the motel in exchange for maintenance work while
0:22.2	enjoying easy access to the drugs and prostitutes one might find at a CD motel.
0:27.9	In the early morning of January 7, 1997, Sneed and a girlfriend, Lord Barry Bantreese
0:34.0	into room 102, to rob him of the cash he was known to carry. Barry resisted and was
0:39.8	bludgeoned and stabbed to death. His car was moved to a nearby lot. Later that morning,
0:46.2	Sneed off-handedly told Richard that he had killed Barry, but after seeing that Barry's
0:51.2	car was not at its usual spot, Richard dismissed what he thought was Sneed's usual drug
0:56.4	at old ramblings. When the body was discovered, Richard told police about what Sneed had said,
1:01.6	causing them to focus on him. Even though Sneed eventually confessed, police steered him
1:07.3	to implicate Richard as the mastermind of a murder for higher scheme. For his testimony,
1:13.3	Sneed escaped the death penalty in exchange for life without parole, swapping Richard into
1:19.1	his place. The word of a meth head and the legit motive to steal cash was all it took.
1:25.4	Twenty-four years, two trials, three states of execution, a lethal injection drug scandal,
1:30.6	and two Supreme Court cases later, Richard remains a death row in Oklahoma. This is wrongful
