Summary

There are so many different twists on “New Year's Resolutions' '... Some people don’t do them at all because they think you should start fresh every day. Some people pick one big goal for the year, some people create mini goals, and some people are just trying to write the correct date at the top of their paper! However, one trend that we have consistently loved to implement in the new year is the idea of a word to ground your actions for the year. Think of this as more of a guide. So this year we wanted to not only discuss some goal setting and how we plan on changing things up a bit but also share our individual words with you along with why we chose those words.  So grab your planner and a cup of coffee and let’s start planning out an AMAZING 2024! 0:06.2

and we are here to make your life easier by helping you master your time, organization,

0:10.4

and productivity as a teacher. Happy 2024, y'all. We are so excited to kick off this new year

0:17.9

with you because we have some new ideas we want to share and we're

0:21.4

going to give you all the details in this episode. But before we jump in, we're going to listen to a

0:26.9

TSA from Debbie. Debbie says, grade level expectation of eating out together one to two times per week.

0:34.2

First of all, girl, how are you eating out one of two times a week? She says,

0:39.5

I like to work through lunch and I meal prep. At times, they make little comments to make me feel

0:44.8

like I'm excluding myself. How can I help them understand I want to use this time to prep? Social

0:51.3

pressure. Debbie, I feel for you because this is a difficult situation and

0:58.1

this is a them problem, not a you problem, but you're kind of the one left dealing with the

1:04.6

consequences. And that is obviously not fair. But a lot of things in life are not fair. So I'm going to

1:09.8

kind of digest what you said.

1:12.2

First of all, the whole grade level expectation of eating out together one to two times per week.

1:18.0

I know what you're talking about where a grade level team, it's kind of this idea of, oh, look,

1:22.9

we're going to bond. We're going to, you know, go out to eat together one to two times per week.

1:29.1

But I think it's unfair,

1:35.2

unless everyone has agreed to that, that should not be the expectation. And so I think one of the first things I would do is bring it up in some kind of a grade level meeting, especially with it

1:40.9

being a new year. It's the perfect time to have a new conversation about it.

1:45.4

And you could even use like a New Year's resolution kind of as like your scapegoat or your

1:49.9

reasoning for wanting to cut back on eating out. Like that's a super easy thing for you to do.

1:55.2

But you need to be upfront with them and explain like, hey, I really like to use my work time to meal prep.
