Today on The Prosecutors, the case against Adnon Syed.

1:13.2

Hello everybody and welcome to this episode of The Prosecutors. I'm Brett and I'm joined as always by my unconquerable co-host, Alice.

1:43.2

Hi Brett. I am shaking my boots figuratively right now because every Texan has a pair of good boots because we are conquering a case that I really never thought we would have the time or energy to do.

1:59.6

But thanks to doing all of these episodes live, I feel like invigorated to be doing this last episode despite it coming with a lot of emotion.

2:09.6

Because we've talked about how these cases are kind of like our babies and then we spend so much time with them and then we have to let them out into the world and let them, you know, criticize us all they want.

2:21.3

It's true. I mean you know how your children are when they become teenagers and we're at 14 here. And yeah, I know there were times where it felt like for the people listening out there we might never get here.

2:32.4

There are some of you who are so glad we're here so we will talk about something anything other than Adnon Syed and some of you are probably sad to see it go.

2:42.3

I personally didn't really you know what's really excited about covering this case we talked about this we talked about this at the beginning but I've actually really enjoyed it.

2:50.6

It turned out to be a lot of fun so to all of you who said cover this case need to look into this case thank you for suggesting it because I actually really enjoyed it.

3:01.4

And you know we're going to spend a lot of time on it today this could be a long episode because we've got a lot to say and then we've got this long list of things we want to discuss at the end so there's really no telling how long this is going to last so it's kind of it's it's literally a laundry list of like brain dump.

3:18.5

You know didn't get well into the narrative but it's like things I got to say.

3:24.1

Yeah things we want to talk about at the end and we're going to do that and hopefully you guys will enjoy this and look we've tried to approach this case from an open mind we've tried to give you guys the facts.

3:37.8

Obviously we have offered our opinions I think that's why you listen I don't think you listen to us just recite things from the case file you can read that if you go to our website prosecutor's podcast dot com and go to the first episode and I'll probably go ahead and put it on this episode to just so it's easy to find.

3:53.0

We've linked to a whole bunch of stuff we've uploaded a bunch of documents check it out read it for yourself we always say go to the originals you may have a different take on things and we do you may read something in the file that we didn't even address that you actually things really important I think it's important you guys are really smart and you know it's like when my last trial I did the closing and one of the things I said in it was you know jurors we don't pick juries of judges and lawyers we pick juries.

4:23.4

Who are going to decide the facts based on something much more important which is their own common sense and all of you have that and all of your qualified to think about these cases and reach conclusions based on the facts don't let anybody tell you what to think don't let anybody tell you what to listen to and don't assume just because you're hearing it from us you're hearing it from somebody else that's the gospel and it can never be questioned.
