So the school year is winding down or is over for some of you. It's probably not an understatement to say that it was long and

tough with the IEP meetings and homework challenges, social skills challenges, and

meltdowns that may have occurred, yours and your child's

Parents approach the summer break in a couple of ways

Either they feel their child deserves a break from the rigors of school and should chill out, spread his or her

wings and have fun. Other parents are worried that their child will slide

academically so they have a regular regimen of academics during the summer,

reading every day, which I think is always a good idea,

math, facts, and so on.

Perhaps the best bet is to have a measured approach, some routine and structure and some fun.

Talking with your child, you can work to establish schedules and goals for the
