Summary

The holiday season is here and I've been thinking about gift giving. HSPs' temperament makes them well-suited to picking out the perfect gift for loved ones. We pay close attention to details so we are likely to pick up on the wants and desires of others.

In this episode, I talk about the most thoughtful gift I ever received and I also go off on a rant about gift cards.

brighter, louder, and more intensely. Join me on a journey of acceptance of our highly sensitive

person traits. Welcome to episode 21. I'm your host, Kelly. In this podcast, I share stories and talk about

issues that arise with being a highly sensitive person and an introvert. Before we begin, I'd like to

0:30.7

share a comment on the blog from a reader named Lauren. She writes, my husband is a highly

sensitive person, and it's wonderful to hear these episodes

0:38.7

and learn more about the way he works. I've also discovered that I have some highly sensitive

0:43.3

traits, but in different and complementary ways. I look forward to learning more. Thanks so much for

0:49.1

the comment. Lauren, I'm so happy that the podcast and site have been helpful to you.

Today I'm going to talk about gift giving and how highly sensitive people are usually good at picking

0:59.1

out thoughtful gifts. Plus, as a bonus, I rant about gift cards. I just published my holiday

1:06.2

gift guide for highly sensitive people at my blog at highly sensitive person.net. It was challenging to put

1:12.7

this list together because even though we all share the same temperament, we have different interests.

1:18.1

I did my best and I'd love to know what you think in the comments at the blog.

Highly sensitive people are usually good gift givers because we pay attention to detail. We mentally take

1:29.5

note of when a friend mentioned she thinks it would be cool to learn how to make her own jewelry,

1:34.1

or that she always wanted to take a pottery class, or learn how to use the new fancy camera they

1:39.8

just got. We remember these little details in our mental post-it notes in our head. And when it comes

1:45.7

time for a birthday or Christmas or whatever, we get them a certificate to a jewelry making class,

1:51.3

a pottery class, or a photography class, or something else that they have specifically shown

interest in at some point. And as a generalization, HSPs like to learn new things, especially high

sensation-seeking HSPs, which I talked about in episode 16. That's why I think gift certificates
