1:28.6 | to our story the fire was a signal to others to begin a revolt and when white people came out of their homes to see what was going on with the fire they were confronted by a band of something like 25 or 50 enslaved people armed with guns, axes, and knives. |
1:45.0 | Eventually, over the course of this 1712 slave revolt, some nine white people would be killed, |
1:51.0 | and more than 70 black enslaved Americans would be arrested or |
1:55.4 | jailed in the aftermath. |
