But today I am joined by the Director of Thought Leadership and Expertise and Understood. It's Amanda

Morin to talk to us about ADHD, dyslexia, all of those things and how they are represented

in the lightning

thief. Amanda, how's it going? It's good. It's so good to be here. Thanks for inviting me.

I'm excited to have this conversation. Thank you for being on the show. It was a lot easier

for me to have you on. Just, I always think it's funny when people thank me. It's like, oh,

thanks so much for having me. It's like, no, no, no, you're the expert with the big pants and fancy titles. I also don't know why I decided big pants means you're important. Well, I'll just be honest here. I'm also someone who's read the series, enjoyed the series. Yes. Not going to ruin the rest of it for you. So we'll just have a conversation about the lightning thief today. Exactly. And that's what's important. We just did an episode with our folklore and mythology expert, Dr. Moye McTeer, and she's read the series. So that's an important thing because this is a very important conversation for me and the listeners at home to learn about all of these topics that come up in the first book, but in a way that doesn't spoil any of the future books.

I guess do you want to just talk a little bit about understood and your role there and your history

with doing this sort of work and writing and all that?

Sure. So I'll start backwards because I think it's easy to tell you where I come from

educationally to then talk about understood. I've been in education for 20-something years. I started

out as a teacher and an early intervention specialist, so worked with kids with

disabilities for a very long time and parents. And then I moved into writing for parents and teachers.
