together we are the minimalist. Today we're going to talk about consumerism. We're going to talk

civilized. We're going to do all of that with today's guest. Dr. Christopher Ryan is here.

Chris Ryan, author of a couple books, but this new book, let me just say something about your new

book, Chris. By the way, thank you for being here. It's a pleasure to be here. Welcome.

So Chris's new book is called Civilized to Death, which isn't just a great title. There are maybe

six books that I wish I would have written and this is definitely on that list of six.

Hillbilly Elegy by J.D. Vance is amazing. There are just a few books that I really wish,

the circle by Dave Eggers is another one that I wish I would have written because you communicate
