Summary
I have waited a long, long time to have this conversation.
Not because it hasn't been requested—it has. Not because I didn't know how I felt about it—I do.
I held off for two reasons. One, because I wanted to talk about it when I felt led to do so, and two…
Honestly, I was nervous about how I would be received. But I'm not nervous anymore. So, let's talk about body positivity.
My relationship with food and my body has been a bit of a rollercoaster—I was lucky enough to be raised in a home where I had a healthy view of food, and I'm also a registered dietician, so I "get" food. But when I was in college, things took a bit of a turn…and since then, I've learned a LOT about holding duality when it comes to body image, food restriction, and wanting to look a certain way.

| 1:15.0 | So today, I am going to be sharing with you how my views on body image, working out, and food have changed. |
| 1:25.0 | So excited to finally watch you live. I usually listen to the podcast on Spotify. Yes, it's fun to be live. |
| 1:31.0 | Sometimes I like recording lives and podcasts at the same time because then I get to engage with all of you. |
| 1:36.0 | It's like killing two birds with one stone, if that makes... but it's joyful, so it doesn't feel like killing two birds with one stone. |
| 1:43.0 | It's just I get to, I guess. Okay, so I really want to talk about this. A lot of people have asked me to chime in on body image and confidence around body image and things like that. |
| 1:55.0 | And I've been pretty quiet about this for a long, long time for good reason, because I didn't really want to speak on it until I actually had... |
| 2:05.0 | I actually felt led to do it and also when I felt like my thoughts were really gathered around it. |
| 2:10.0 | So my views have changed. And honestly, I'm going to share everything. And I actually challenged myself to do this live so that you're going to hear my truest, raw thoughts. I have no notes. I'm just going to share. |
| 2:23.0 | And yeah, it's like some people may agree with me, some people may not. And I'm actually not going to be that person that's going to not say how I really feel. |
| 2:34.0 | I think that was part of the reason, like full transparency, transparency, full honesty. There was a long time I didn't talk about this, like body image, working out food, whatever, because there was a time where I was afraid of what people would think about what I thought. |
| 2:47.0 | And now I just don't care. I just don't care at all. And I am not going to be one of those people. I think this has become really popular online on social media, even in the podcast world is just like holding back on what you actually want to say and saying things you don't actually stand behind because you want to appease other people or you don't want to set people. |
| 3:08.0 | And that doesn't actually serve anybody and it's manipulative. I'm just going to say it for what it is. If you're sharing views and perspectives that you know other people are going like it's going to make other people happy. |
| 3:21.0 | But you don't actually agree with it. It's just manipulative. It's not supportive. It's just you being able to preserve how you're being seen and other people's eyes and you're lying to them. And that's not very fair. It's not fair. I don't think it's fair. |
| 3:34.0 | Another reason why I have held my tongue on this kind of conversation is because I've noticed you know what's interesting. And if you don't know, I was I still am a dietician, a registered dietician. So I think I know a two a thing or two about food. |
| 3:49.0 | I think I know a thing or two about intuitive eating and body positivity and all these things. These are things I learned in college and in my grad school program. |
