Previously on Myths and Legends, and I mean previously, we met Maui, a demigod shaped

shifter trickster of the Pacific Islands.

This was over three years ago now, so if you'd like a refresher, check out Episode 89.

But as a brief backstory, Maui of the Topna was born prematurely to the goddess Taranga.

He fell from her, actually, and was raised by the ocean until the time came for him to

return to his mother.

She greeted him joyfully, and welcomed him into the family, consisting of no joke, four

other brothers, also named Maui.

Together the Maui five entertain themselves with things like lashing the sun to make the

day longer, bringing fire and dredging up islands.

Now every hero needs a trademark weapon.

Thor has his hammer, Hercules' club, Artemis Herbow, and Maui has his grandmother's jaw
