The human brain, let's talk about it.

Hi, I'm Brant Hansen.

The human brain is good for thinking. It's also really good at avoiding thinking.

Meaning we have all these little shortcuts they call them heuristics these little biases that help us to not think and it's good to be aware of that

Okay, okay, so we come up with shortcuts and one of the shortcuts that we have is just

following whoever has higher status. Whatever they think, I now think that.

Okay. It's very good to be aware of that and go, okay that may be a shortcut, but it may not serve me well.

Because they may not know the truth or they may not be invested in the truth,

just because they have higher status. People with status say this, fine, maybe it's true, but maybe it's not.

It's just really good to be aware of the fact that we can be so

avoidant to thinking and reason is a good thing. God gave us a chance to know the truth through him.

You know it's really strong and people don't recognize it for being so strong?

It's encouragement.

Like encouraging people.

Sherry is great at it.

It's strong.

You have to be a certain sort of person that thinks to encourage other people. I don't think most people do it

I don't and for me it doesn't naturally occur to me

Really? Not naturally. I see you doing it. Well I'm doing it. Young men specifically I see you do it a lot.
