Pro-life laws are hurting women, maybe if not killing them outright off of the

connection isn't made there having some sort of negative effect on women's

health and women's health care. That's been the line, the narrative as they say, since the overturning of

Roe v. Wade. Is it true? Well there's a new report out that tries to make that

connection. What's wrong with its reasoning?

social research and political science at the Catholic University of

Thanks, having me. Much appreciated. Tell us about a report on women's health care released by Commonwealth Fund.

Sure, the Commonwealth Fund recently released a scorecard that provides state data on various women's health outcomes.

It contains state data on things like maternal mortality rates, on breast and cervical cancer

deaths, and post-parum depression. So it looks at a variety of health

outcomes and ranks the various states.

How are the media reporting these findings.

Both Commonwealth Fund and the media are quick to blame pro-life laws for any bad health outcomes

they find.
