Today we get to speak to retired agent Sonia Nostrum,

who served in the FBI for 23 years.

She was assigned to the Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, and Salt Lake City divisions and

specialized in the investigation of violent crimes and internet crimes against children.

In this episode, Sonia Nostrum, a certified handler and trainer

of search and rescue and search and recovery canines, reviews her journey with each of her dogs, the role the dogs played in an investigation, how they best benefit a case, the different uses and capabilities of dogs, and she highlights

some of her dogs most successful assignments.

Sonia is certified as an FBI general police instructor and provided training to federal agents and hundreds of local law enforcement personnel on topics including the use of canines in missing

person and homicide cases.

She served as a relief supervisor for the violent crime squad,

primary relief supervisor of the FBI Los Angeles

bank robbery squad, the senior resident agent,

of the Lancaster resident agency, as the Innocent Images National Initiative

Coordinator and National Center for Analysis of Violent Crime

Coordinator for the Salt Lake City Division. Since retiring from the

FBI, Sonia is the owner, operator of Hymn Dell Canine Services, an

international provider of personal and executive protection canines, and of

Sonia's dog training, which provides local training services and seminars and workshops for SAR and detection canines.
