Welcome to the Scuff's podcast. I'm Adam Bells in Georgia. With me is Greg Velazquez in Iowa. We talk about US men's soccer. The U.S. faces Jamaica, Panama and Costa Rica and the second window of World Cup qualifying,

starting with Jamaica on Thursday in Austin.

Joining me again, blessedly, is John Arnold, an expert on Concord Caff as a region to help us

understand these opponents and how they're playing right now.

John, how are you doing? I'm good. It's always exciting to be having games that mean something

that matter. September I thought was pretty fun. I mean I know the US fans live it a little differently than I do from my sort of like I guess

neutral perspective although you know as we talked about on the show before like I'm an American who

lived in Mexico so I have a soft spot for like all the North American teams but all that to say I know it was kind of a hectic month and like a nervous month for US

Hardcore's but I had fun and I hope I hope everyone did too and maybe October will be a little less stressful although as we'll get into it who knows

Take the US out of it. What was your biggest surprise from the window like what was your big what were some of your big takeaways from September.

Yeah, I think one of the big overarching themes was we wondered how the three

game match days would be would affect players but also would be approached by coaches

and I think you saw some of the smaller teams specifically Panama and El Salvador their

managers Christensen and Perez were just like, yeah, it's fine.

These guys can do it, they're great players, and that did not seem to be the case, you know,

I think both of them kind of ran out of steam a little bit at the end,

and now have called in bigger squads and more players so I think that was one of the

lessons that we can kind of take away big picture you look at a team like I think

will lead us nicely into our discussions I think Panama was the most impressive team.

I felt like they were kind of the most overperforming team

in Jamaica the most disappointing team, especially when, as I'm sure we'll get into

and hopefully kind of dovetailing nicely into our first segment,
