It started with Jennifer, the third child of Marybeth and Joe, joining siblings Barbara and Joe Jr in December of 1971. Little Jennifer was not a healthy child and died from meningitis on January 3, 1972. This news hit Marybeth and Joe hard, especially Mary, who had just lost her father in October.
