What's up, guys? Welcome into today's show. It is Wednesday, April 8th, and a good one we have. It is a jam-packed episode where we are going to get a lot of information from Matt Waldman in his rookie scotting

portfolio, which I'm going to link in the description of this podcast, both on substack

0:44.1

for us here on Brownstone Breakdown.

And then obviously in the description of the podcast, if you're watching this in either

audio form or YouTube form, whatever that might be, right?

So really what Matt focuses on is the skill positions, which he's going to tell you all about kind of how he does that and what he tries to do and what positions he breaks down and how he goes about his process. But I always think it's great to check in with him. Obviously kind of side-eyeing quarterbacks. We're not going to spend any time on running back this year just because we think it's just a position that's very unlikely to be an investment in since they took two of them last year and obviously like their UDFA and can attack some of the budget market if they so choose.

1:21.3

But we're going to spend a lot of time on the big names of wide receiver, which I think are well, well worth it because we need to figure

1:28.1

out who they're interested in and who makes sense for some specific position stuff, right?

1:32.6

Like when we break down wide receivers, oftentimes it's just wide receiver one, wider

1:37.5

receiver two, wider receiver three. We don't spend time on understanding the positional versatility

1:42.2

or really the positional limitations of a player.

1:45.4

So if you're talking about an X, what is a guy who plays X who's a boundary player who's in

1:49.5

the short side of the field, condensed space, jump ball ability, contested tough catches,

1:54.6

quick slants, all those routes that involve beating one-on-one coverage.

1:58.8

And oftentimes even against zone looks in the NFL, where you get that lock on the backside or what teams call or what defense is called that Meg concept, man everywhere he goes, you just find even in zone it turns into man really quickly. So that guy better be unique and he better be able to beat a variety of coverage types and be able to beat man to man.

2:52.3

They better be able to catch the football in a wide variety of ways. So we're going to spend time talking about some of those guys, spend time talking about some movement players. I wanted to talk to him about Omar Cooper, who I'm just a gigantic fan of, and plenty more. And it's tied in stuff here. I learned some things in this mix as well. So obviously a lot to be learned from Matt anytime he comes to the show and, you know, breaks down his insights and his process as he studied these guys leading up to now. Obviously, we think the Browns might be, you know, invested in a tackle on one of these two positions. And Matt doesn't spend time on that. I talked yesterday about the odds on Spencer Fanos, slowly climbing up the board. And I'm going to put out a couple more. I put Blake Miller out there today for you guys to check out the Clemson-Right tackle. Very experienced football player, very good at a lot of parts of the position. A couple things that are sticking out to me as far as hindrances for him at the NFL level, but it's well worth your time about 15 minutes on him i have max ian a chore the kid from

3:10.2

arizona state He'll be up next, and that'll close out the offensive tackle study for the top end guys, and then I'll start doing wide receivers in a real hurry. And I do want to do some tight ends as well, and we'll get to those. But, and again, reminder, Brad put up the safeties article.
