Welcome in to first draft and hello to those that are watching us live on the NFL, on ESPN YouTube channel, or on ESPN 2 on TV, and of course, wherever you get your podcast. Mel, I've been hearing from people, in part because as the draft gets closer, I think First Draft re-airs more frequently on TV. And they've been saying hello from all over the map, including from

1:11.2

airport terminals saying just before my flight, I got 10 minutes that got me all the information

1:16.5

I need to know for the 2026 NFL draft. I call that the Mel Kuiper effect. Everybody wants

1:21.8

a piece of you, Mel, during the month of April. That's a young fielding effect, but I get that a lot

1:26.8

too, but I just never know what show or what deal they're referring to, you know, when did it happen? When was it taped? You know, when do, who did I say it to, to put it all into context? Because things change. And I think the fact that we do this first draft podcast a couple times every week allows us to impact those changes and talk about what's happening. And you get four different opinions on this rotating mock was a lot of fun field because it was me and you and Jordan Reed and Matt Miller. And our ratings, obviously, we don't check our ratings. We just do our ratings and we do our mocks and we don't, you know, talk to anybody else. We don't see anybody else's ratings. So when we do this, you really get an idea for the first time of what these people were thinking. It was a lot of fun to go through that exercise the other day. Yeah, especially in round three. And by the way, all three rounds are available on ESPN.com now. We're going to rotate it all the way through 100 picks. So each of us made 25 in total. But especially in round three, there were some names that went

2:17.7

off the board that I was thinking to myself, all right, I was not considering that player, which means that I might be off on the player, or it's also possible that I'm just going to get a guy that I was hoping to come back around to me when I made my next pick, who is still sitting there for me to It's also possible that they were off.

2:34.4

That's also possible.

2:35.4

That is possible as well.

2:37.2

Don't always think for me to wrap. It's also possible that they were off.

2:34.5

That's also possible. That is possible as well. Don't always think you have to go back to the drawing board because you get so many different opinions. Sometimes the opinions you agree with. Sometimes you say, I don't know what the heck they were looking at. So, yes, that's the way it is. More of an art than a science, right? Yeah, more of an art than of science is the NFL draft. And by the way, a housekeeping note next week. We're going to have one show here on first draft, just one, because we have our mega mock. It's, again, all four of us, Graney hosting as well. And we're going to be basically drafting a super team. So we're each going to draft one quarterback as an example. Not all of us drafting or racing to draft as many quarterbacks as possible.

3:08.7

It's a fun thing we do each year. That'll be on the air next Thursday. Before we get to the

3:14.2

first round of this alternative mock draft, and we can have all three rounds, but they are available

3:19.0

on ESPN.com. Reminders, we are available Mondays and Thursdays, ESPN NFL YouTube channel, of course,
