Logan Reed Patterson was a graduate of Pineville High School in 1952, and he competed on the 1956 U.S. Olympic swimming team while he was on leave from the Navy.

So he just took a break from the Navy and he went and swam in the Olympics in 1956.

And he smashed the record, a world record time while on leave from the Navy.

And he learned to swim at a place called Blue Hole,

which is a swimming hole in Clear Creek less than a mile away from here.
