| 0:35.6 | It's Maggie Davis who's joined us in studio. |
| 0:37.7 | Good morning, Maggie. How are you? That was so nice. What a way to start the morning. |
| 0:41.4 | Thanks so much for having me back. Well, you do a great job, and it's not your first time co-hosting |
| 0:45.4 | the pre-show, so we're glad that you're with us today. Yes, happy to do you. I turned on BBN tonight |
| 0:50.8 | last night to check in with Maggie and seeing seeing what you know what stories are going on |
| 0:55.2 | around campus and she had the night off busted i had not taken a night off in weeks probably since |
| 1:01.1 | before the tournaments which you know it's this time of the year i'm happy to do it it's i'm not complaining |
| 1:06.1 | but i did take yesterday off i had a lot going on including the kent Derby is coming up. Had to do a little shopping. We are, the LAX-18 is the NBC affiliate in town. So we do Oaks, Derby, even Thurby now, really big. And so I'll be out there anchoring our Oaks and Derby coverage again this year alongside Keith Farmer. And it's a big deal. We got to get our outfits approved. We got to get the hats figured out or a fascinator. Found out this year. Had a nadir, new term, kind of an in-between, a turduckin situation. So I had a little shopping to do. I went to Louisville for the day, Anna's edition. Shout out, that's where my hat comes from every year. And she's amazing. She gets it right. So I had to take the day off work. I guess you've got more in common with Shan the dude than I thought, taking these vacation days when you can. One day. You know you're a hard worker, Maggie. But you must like the 840 or 850 post time for Oaks now on Friday. Selfishly, I like it because it prolongs our coverage. But if I put myself in the shoes of any business owner in Louisville or anybody with any connection to like the city or the state or the cultural impact actually here in the bluegrass, I would not like it. I mean, I think that is so tough for fans, patrons who want to go, then go out, go out to big dinner, go to the party. I mean, all those Barnes Stable Brown parties, all that kind of stuff. Like, I don't know how the schedule is going to work for all that. I know for us, we're doing more Oaks coverage this year than we've done other years just because we have a longer window to fill locally before national NBC will take over closer to the race. So selfishly, like I said, |
| 2:34.6 | I can't lie. I'm excited because it's one of my favorite weekends of the whole year. And I'm pumped. We get to do it up even bigger. But I do kind of hate it for the fans. And I was talking to my grandma last night. She's really worried about staying up that late. So I hope that it works out for her and everybody else who's like 840 is a little late for me. |
| 2:52.4 | Well, that's a tough turnaround. |
| 2:53.4 | We got a long derby day the next day, about staying up that late. So I hope that it works out for her and everybody else who's like, 840 is a little late for me. |
| 2:52.4 | Well, that's a tough turnaround. We got a long derby day the next day too. But Maggie, you're a pro. I'm sure you'll be fine at it. I will be there alongside somewhere interviewing the jockeys, my third year of doing that. Started with the infield with Dwight Whitten. we'd go out in the pouring rain and interview the drunkest person we could find. Almost a la Ryan Lemon back in the day. You've seen that video, right? I have, yes. Oh, my gosh. Can you imagine? Poor guy. No, I mean, I can because I've been there, so I, like, know that that is the atmosphere. So I went to the infield all four years of college. Well, I guess three years. |
| 3:24.4 | Fourth year was COVID. So I went three years. And then since then I've worked every year. So I've been, I was my first year in the infield kind of in and out because I was just doing social media content for L-EX-18. I was not on the air yet. And then after that, I've been on the backside. So that's a totally different vibe, you know, than the front side, if you will. And it's |
| 3:42.2 | totally different, especially than the infield. So that's a totally different vibe, you know, than the front side, if you |
| 3:41.4 | will. And it's totally different, especially than the infield. But it's fun in there, but crazy. Oh, it's fun. It's expensive now. Like, you think it was for the common man now. It's, I mean, good luck trying to get something to eat less than $30. Crazy. Yes. My sister went a few years ago, and I think she spent $40 on chicken tenders and fries. |
