Sweet. All right, everybody. Happy New Year. Welcome back to Deepen Podcasts for one of my favorite

weeks of the year, Vision Weekend. We were in a meeting earlier and talking, we were affirming

you, Pastor Joby, and your gift of casting vision and keeping the main thing, the main thing.

And this is certainly a weekend where you get to show that off to everybody at church.

So thanks for bringing it today.

24 is a year we're going to focus a lot on eternal life.

I was thinking about this as we're getting ready to talk.

There's this verse in Proverbs, Proverbs 2918, and it's probably one of those coffee

cup verses, right? Like the people perish for lack of vision. So talk, let's go a little high

level to start off. Why is vision so important? And you have a thing you talk about with vision

and direction and stuff like that. I don't love the word. I think honestly in church world, vision is like overrated. It's just the word you got to use. If not, it would take me 10 minutes to explain why we don't use that word. So it's just the word you got to use. However, I think vision's overrated. I think the vision of what a church is comes from God in the Great Commission. That's what we are all about.

Our vision never changes. It is the way we are going to live out of the Great Commission is by

me in a movement for all people to discover a deep in a relationship with Jesus. And then really what

we do on this weekend is say the direction for this year is highlighting, is emphasizing this part of the overall vision.

So eternal life, which is a part of the 10-10 life journey, or a disciple loves all people by sharing their faith,

that's what we're directing ourselves towards or emphasizing this year. But the vision

hasn't changed. The Great Commission hasn't changed. And that verse, I mean, you didn't talk about

this in your message, but that verse says that without it, people cast off restraint. What do you
