Hello to 112 of my closest friends. It's beautiful and anonymous. One hour, one phone call. No names? No holds barred.

Hi everybody, welcome to beautiful anonymous. My name is Chris Gethard. I feel so lucky that you're here with us today.

This is our minute of tradition. We do a New Year's resolution episode. Every year, instead of one hour long phone call, we do...

0:44.0

It's supposed to be 60 minute long phone calls. Now, there's other host sat here who might say, 60 minutes? My job is done.

0:53.0

I think if I remember this year, we wound up doing about 112, 120, something like that. I just sit in. Anybody wants to get through.

So, I love these episodes. You know, we get to talk to people from all over the world, one minute at a time. It's such a good reminder that there's a community out there.

1:13.0

And I don't think of this show's listener base as a fan base. I think of it as a community. And I love that you get to hear these kind of random one minute shouts from the void. Some of them are funny. Some of them are serious. Some of them get sad. Some of them are very happy. Some of them people get nervous and barely get the resolution help. But they're always just a reminder of,

1:33.0

man, we are out here. And I'm just going to ask you, don't forget that you've been listening to this show. Let's not get complacent, man. Let's remember that this is a community that's been strong for five years running. I love this community. I love that I get to be a part of this community, let alone the point card for this community.

So, before we get to the calls, just want to say this is coming out on the 28th on the chance that you listen to it today and you're in your jersey tonight, I'll be at the Highland Pavilion in my hometown of West Orange at an event called dinner by Jared, J.A. R.R.E.T.

2:06.0

Jared runs a restaurant called Bagels by Jared. He's a fantastic chef. This is a benefit show. There was an apartment complex in my hometown of West Orange, New Jersey that was destroyed in a landslide. And we're trying to raise money for the residents who have been displaced.

So that's tonight, if you happen to find it, I feel so alive still. I think about beautiful anonymous. I still get so excited. I still can't believe we're pulling this thing off.

2:31.0

These New Year's resolutions episodes, they just remind me how many of you are out there. And I get to be the person who talks to Ollie and brings it to the world. What a beautiful, beautiful thing. Thanks for letting me do this. Enjoy it, everybody.

Thank you for calling beautiful anonymous. A beeping noise will indicate when you are on the show with the host.

Hello. Hello. Hi, you're our first caller on this year's New Year's resolution episode.

2:59.0

Oh, my God. I'm so honored to be the first one. That's insane. First of all, thank you so much for all that you've done.

3:07.0

My New Year's resolution actually ties back to the first episode I ever listened to of your podcast, which was the episode featuring a wilderness therapy guide.

3:18.0

If you remember. Yeah. Yeah. So believe it or not, I was in nursing school at the time and a friend of mine sent your episode to me saying that she lives in the city of New York.

3:28.0

She's saying that she loved your show and she thought I would love to listen to it because it sounded like me. And I listened to it and it prompted my career change because I realized I was unhappy in what I was doing.

3:40.0

And so I am now a recent graduate from a Parks and Recreation program. I am a kayak instructor and I love my work that I do now.

3:49.0

My New Year's resolution is to find a full-time gig working outside so I can get kids outside. So amazing. Thank you for a lot of things. Yeah.

3:58.0

Our minute is up. One moment. One momentous way to start kudos. I hope that that old caller is listening to this and here's the profound effect they had upon the world.

4:06.0

You're out here teaching kids about the world and wilderness as well. That's amazing. Okay. We're going to patch our next call it through. If you hear the beep, that means you are on the line. Welcome to the show.
