The Emmy nominations have arrived, and Succession leads the pack in most nominations, followed

closely by Ted Lasso and the White Lotus.

This was also a good year for the folks behind only murders in the building, hacks and

squid game, which each picked up their fair share of recognition from voters.

We're going to get into the snubs, the surprises, and everything in between I'm Linda Holmes,

and I'm Aisha Harris.

And today we're recapping this year's Emmy nominations on Pop Culture Happy Hour from NPR.

So let's just get right on to it, starting with the comedy.

So for outstanding comedy series this year, we have nominations for Abbott Elementary,

Barry, curb your enthusiasm, hacks, the marvelous Mrs. Maisel, only murders in the building,

Ted Lasso, and what we do in the shadows.

That is a lot of shows.

Yes, yes.

Today's Linda, what are your thoughts on this group of comedies?

Well, the thing that stands out for me the most is that no broadcast networks have really

been hanging on by a thread in terms of Emmy presents for the last few years.

I'm sure that not only is the entire Abbott Elementary team delighted about this nomination

and the other ones at the show received, but I think broadcast television in general is

always rooting for itself to maintain a presence.

I think it's really cool to see a show like this that has gotten a lot of credit for elements

of representation and other things and it's kind of singular sense of humor.

This is a fun nomination or set of nominations for this show because critics love it too.
