| 0:00.0 | Blue Liar. Welcome back. This is the Big Blue Banter New York Giants Football Podcast. I'm Dan Schneier. |
| 0:10.6 | I joined as always my co-host, Nick Vallado. Tonight, we are here to do a couple. One, I want to continue with our review of the 2022 draft class, Joe Shane and Brian Dable's first class. Most capital they'll probably have in any draft. I would imagine that could change, but you don't see many draft classes where you get five and seven. The draft points alone for those two picks, including the extra third round pick they got from the Dolphins, which we discussed. Yes, on the last podcast, we're going to talk about the rest of the class. We're also going to talk about some things we learned from the Super Bowl and a little bit of a Super Bowl recap. So first of all, Nick, how was it watching, you know, enjoying Super Bowl week and being down in Arizona where they actually posted the Super Bowl? It was fantastic, Dan. Thank you for asking. There were so many people in town, right? I went downtown. I think it was Thursday. Met up with a bunch of blue wire guys hung out. It was fun. Then the next day, I ended up going to the waste management open, watching some golf. I'm telling you, man, there were thousands of people at that event. And I like golf, but I don't know if I could sit there and just watch it unless I'm enjoying a couple of bevies, which I wasn't that day. |
| 1:12.3 | So I was just like, okay, when are we getting out of here? But it was a fun experience overall. It was a pretty jam-packed weekend. And I also wanted to get a bunch of film in too, you know, watching college prospects because we're a fast approaching talking about the 2023 NFL draft end. And I'm pretty stoked about that. |
| 1:08.0 | Yeah, that's going to be exciting for sure. |
| 1:09.7 | And the actual Super Bowl was an amazing game, right? |
| 1:12.4 | That was a. about the 2023 NFL draft and I'm pretty stoked about that. Yeah, that's going to be exciting for sure. |
| 1:28.3 | And the actual Super Bowl was an amazing game, right? |
| 1:31.1 | That was one of the best Super Bowls we've had, I think, in recent years. |
| 1:36.5 | Not only that, it was exciting for all fans because there was a lot of points and a lot |
| 1:40.6 | of offense and a lot of scoring in general. |
| 1:43.4 | And, of course, for our sake and for the sake of those who listen to this podcast, |
| 1:48.1 | the right team won. |
| 1:49.6 | The Kansas City Chiefs won this football game. |
| 1:51.9 | And weirdly enough, oddly enough, two of the biggest factors in their win were two players |
| 1:56.2 | who were on the Giants roster last year. |
| 1:58.6 | One, they used first round draft capital on Gaderis, Tony, who returned the punt, |
| 3:24.2 | with just an unbelievable punt return there. Like, yeah, I know he obviously also had the touchdown that was better, just really just well-schemed up play. He didn't really do much on it. But the punt return, the way he reversed field on that, that was the special change of direction skills that, you know, not many people have. And then ultimately, of course, in the last drive, James Bradbury making the whole call that, you know, takes it from a field goal attempt that chiefs probably would have made to go up three, but it still would have been 148 left on the clock, no timeouts. That's a lot of time for Hertz to get into field goal range, especially with the ability to run at the minimum field goal range, to a game that was essentially over that call. And after the game, James Bradbury said it was the right call. I, and thank God he said that because I don't know why he said that because now that he said that, Philly fans would have probably burned the city down if he didn't say that. Now it's kind of like they can complain about the game all they want, but their own player said it should have been a hole and it was the right call. He said he grabbed the jersey, which by the rules impedes the receiver from kind of making that whip route and getting out clean, completing that route. Whatever it may be, they threw the flag and that kind of decided game. But it is interesting how those two players who were just on the Giants last year made such big impact in the Super Bowl game. New York Giants have to have some kind of imprint in a Super Bowl game held in Phoenix. Yeah, otherwise, what else would Giants Twitter talk about? The next stupid Daniel Jones debate that we see every single day from somewhere. Exactly. I could have got a lot of directions there. I didn't have that one plan, though. If I did, Nick, I might have gone to the, I'm not even going to say. I guess I'll roll on. Funny account. Giants Twitter's been very funny lately. Let's just say that and a lot of nonsensical comments. But it makes sense. Look, it's a dead time for Giants. We need to wait for these John tracks to drop, right? We need to wait for the news to drop on the deals. And obviously with Mike Kafka, we're waiting that one out too. |
| 3:41.2 | But, man. I mean, that one route was really just great scheming by Andy Reid, but he can sell that route so well. And we saw Sky Moore do the same exact thing on the very next drive that was set up from Cadarious Tony's pump return. But the offensive line to the Chiefs. We, 70 sacks this season by the Philadelphia Eagles. They didn't sack Pat Mahomes what one time. I don't think. They got a couple hits on him. But Pat Mahomes was just phenomenal in this game, man. And that goes without saying. It's not groundbreaking type of stuff right there. |
| 4:14.9 | Patrick Mahomes is incredible. |
| 4:16.4 | And I'm just so glad that he was able to hoist the Lombardi and not the Philadelphia Eagles. I'll be it. I'll say this, dude. I really do like Jalen Hertz. And I love his development. And it sucks that he's on the Eagles. Similar to Dak Prescott. I like Dak Prescott too, but he's on the Cowboys. |
| 4:12.1 | So it's like, I got to hate this guy. |
| 4:13.5 | And I do. |
