The PGA Tour stays in Texas, this time heading to San Antonio for the Valero, Texas Open.

This is an event that dates back to 1922.

That is 99 years.

Think about this.

Bob McDonald won the first texas open in 1922 and for his hard work

he earned one thousand six hundred and thirty three dollars for that victory the entire purse was

only five thousand dollars how far we have come at this event.

If you don't remember Bob McDonald, this got me stuck in a wiki wormhole when I read all

of this.

He would win twice more in his career, but maybe most notably known for opening the first

indoor golf facility in Chicago in 1918.

So if you like golf and you're in Chicago, maybe thank Bob McDonald winner of the 1922, Texas

Open for that.

And this event has always been played in the San Antonio area now at TPC San Antonio.
