Summary

As Training Camp approaches, Jake is breaking down each position with insights on the roster and tough decisions looming. So far discussions have been had on the entire offense with each position group in detail and yesterday we got some defensive line discussion. Today we talk about a key in this defense with the linebacker group. There are clear favorites for the roster but a battle for the 6th spot is where the intrigue lies. Lastly, there is some clear pressure on some to prove they belong in a starting defense in the NFL and a replacement at MIKE who comes with high praise. Jake is then joined by The Browns Wire's Jeff Risdon where the two go through the LB categories, talk about the 6th roster spot decision, along with some discourse on statistical analysis, and much more. We are going to have a discussion with Jeff Risdon, who does great work for USA Today's Lions and Browns Networks. I'm going to talk to him about this group. Before we do

so, we like to look back a little bit. I definitely think the 2020 Browns linebackers overperformed

for what was expected. A lot of nervousness losing Christian

Kirksey and Joe Schobert, who had been around for a while. I know Kirksey wasn't playing

They brought him B.J. Goodson to be the every down Mike linebacker. He had 937 snaps and played pretty well.

1:14.6

He had a 66 overall grade, 62.8 in run difference. And let's see here, he was a 58.2 pass rush and a 66.1 coverage guy.

79 tackles, 27 stop plays. He was able to come up with

two interceptions, four past breakups. So again, pretty solid for a one-year player who hadn't been

who overperformed last year, unexpected signing when Mack Wilson had his in-camp knee issue.
