Welcome to the Apple Insider Podcast. This is your host, Ethan Robles, and joining me this week was Hillard Man. How's it going?

0:28.0

It's pretty good. I might be sounding a little different today. That's right. You got that new microphone right there.

0:32.0

Yeah. It's definitely interesting and picking up every noise in my house. So we'll see how this goes.

0:36.0

Yes. The joys of recording. If any of our listeners podcast or have tried podcasting, getting a good environment for recording and not having a lot of background noise, especially in the stay-at-home era, it is definitely a challenge.

0:50.0

For our listeners who are probably wondering, why don't you tell them what microphone you are using now?

0:54.0

Well, it's small step up. I went from the AudioTechnica, I think 2005, to the AudioTechnica 2100X, which is basically they upgraded some of the capabilities inside the microphone at a USB-C instead of whatever it was before Micro B or whatever nonsense.

1:12.0

Yeah, the weird connectors.

1:14.0

All I know is it was the connector from the PlayStation 3 controller. That's how I keep track.

1:18.0

This one definitely seems a little sleeker. Still no real configurability on an iPad. I just plug and play and let's go, you know, no mute button or anything.

1:26.0

But I think it sounds significantly better and we'll see how the recording goes. But I've locked my cat in a far away room and I think we're going to be all right for interruptions.

1:36.0

Cool. Well, we wanted to hit these rumors. This was on Friday of last week, so it just didn't make the recording that I had with William in the last episode.

1:44.0

But Mark Gurman from Bloomberg and Ming-Chi Quo, they had some rumors talking about the 2021 line of Apple laptops and Apple Silicon devices that were going to be coming this year.

1:56.0

We've heard about some of these before. Obviously a 14 inch and a 16 inch Apple Silicon MacBook. We've heard those rumors before. New display technology. Again, that's familiar.

2:06.0

One of the things that I thought was interesting in the rumors was that MagSafe might return to the laptop line. So as you know, it's been USB-C since 2016.

2:18.0

And now we have MagSafe on the iPhone. And now the rumors are saying maybe they'll bring MagSafe back to the laptop line.

2:26.0

I have to say while I think I would like MagSafe now, I think I also am so into the USB-C and Thunderbolt world that I kind of don't care as much anymore.

2:38.0

But I feel like MagSafe is probably not coming back to the MacBook line.

2:42.0

MagSafe is interesting here because Apple killed it and then returned it with this giant hockey puck that you put on the back of your phone.

2:50.0

I'm just struggling to connect the dots here. Are we going to use the MagSafe charger that we have for the iPhone and slap it on the Apple logo on the on the MacBooks? I mean, are we going to just return to the old charger and have a little slot in the side.
