Welcome to Rates and barrels. It is Tuesday, January 19th.

Derek Van Riper here with Enos-Seres. On this episode, we begin our

position preview series. We will start at the catcher position, even though the very best player

at that position doesn't have a team yet. We had a three-way trade involving the pirates,

Padres, and Mets, Joe Musgrove, among the players on the move in that deal.

And we have a firing, Jared Porter, the general manager of the Mets, was fired by the team

on Tuesday morning.

You know, we're going to start there.

It's a heavy story.

It is something that as you read the different pieces that come out,

anytime there's an incident in which there is sexual harassment,

which is what happened here,

Jared Porter was sending lewd texts, unsolicited text,

to a female reporter.

This is several years ago.

This was back in 2016.

And you start to realize that this is common. This happens a lot. This is something that is way too normal. It is

something that our female colleagues are subjected to often. And it makes your blood boil.

It makes you feel frustrated and angry.

And I think the thing I've thought about the most since the story broke,

Meena Kimes and Jeff Passon of ESPN broke the story late Monday night.

I keep thinking about how Porter's victim, her life changed.
