Hi everybody, it's Joe Lampel, the Joe Behind Joe Gardner, and welcome to the Joe Gardner

Show.

At the time of this recording, it's the waning days of March, and according to the calendar,

it's officially spring.

But the weather early in the morning, sure doesn't seem that way, but as I look around

the signs of spring are everywhere, and while I'm more than ready mentally for spring

to finally get here, physically, I'm not there yet.

There is so much I still want and need to do around my garden before everything springs

to life.

For example, this past weekend, I spent the entire time out in the garden and around

the landscape working on many of the kind of things that we should all be doing to get

off to the right start and set our gardens up for success coming into this season and

beyond.

For me, some of those important activities included harvesting the last of the cool season

crops that had overwintered, weeding, and then prepping the rest of my beds with a

fresh top dressing of compost and shredded semi-composted leaf mulch, my favorite, planting

spring, cool season crops that I started from seed, so good to see those get into the

beds and then hardening off hundreds, literally hundreds, of tomato and pepper seedlings and
