Hey everybody. It's another edition of the Shay Anything podcast on a Thursday post-winter

meeting's afternoon. Andy joins us on the phone. Andy has been working very hard, up late at

night, up early in the morning, covering both the Mets and

Yankees, obviously. And Andy, you know, it's interesting. We talked last week and it didn't

seem like you saw anything that the Mets were, you know, close to anything or thinking as big

as they did last off season. Were you kind of, I'm not talking about the Waka or Porcelo signings, we'll get to that in a second,

but were you kind of surprised when you heard the rumors that, or you did your reporting,

that the Marte deal was something on the table, that the Mets were looking at things that big?

Look, they would think this is how Brody's wired.

It's not just Marte.

It's obviously Carlos Corretae, which we reported that they've been talking to the Astros about.

I mean, if I remember right, I think when we were talking about that,

how the Mets weren't really doing much big.

I hope I at least gave the qualifier that it's not in Brody's wiring to be that way,

so he's going to try to figure something out.

Whether that's successful or not as a different matter, they're in a tight situation

with payroll because they spent so much last year putting them right up against a luxury tax.

So there's not a ton he can do, but like

if you can engage the Astros on Correa, if you can engage the Pirates on Marte, I don't think

either of those gets done, but he's trying, he's been trying to figure out something like that.
