Welcome on to the fourth annual mock off season. If this is your first time

listening to this, you're in for a treat. This is probably our most fun, most

well-known episode, bringing in Kevin Pelton from ESPN, Dan Feldman from NBC,

Danny Leroux from the Athletica and this podcast that Ed Real-Giam and

everywhere else, Liam Doyle may make a few contributions as well, our

intern, but basically what we're going to do, I'm the player agent. These

gentlemen are the teams and we're going to try and find homes for all of the

free agents this year. It's really a great exercise to see where the money is,

where it's going to dry up, hit probably pretty quickly this year. So before we

bring in the rest of the guys though, Danny, let's just talk about the landscape

here, go over where everything is in terms of the maximum contracts that the

projected cap for this season, about 101 million won't know that exactly until

July 1st, but all recent reports indicate it's going to be right in that range.

And so based on that 101 million dollar cap and also worth noting, by the way,

there's a projected 2019 cap of 108 million. So that's going to go up more than it

did this year. This year only went up about 2 million. We've got the 25% max for

players with 0 to 6 years of experience. The 30% max for players was 7 to 9 years

experience. And the 35% max for players with 10 plus years experience. First of

all, for those restricted free agents who will the most they can get is a four-year

deal on the open market. What would that be with the 5% annual raises that you

get when you're switching to another team without bird rights? So those would

have a starting salary of 25.3 million and a maximum overall salary over four years
