Al Jazeera English just made a really good documentary in which they interviewed a state legislator from Ohio.

This guy is a co-sponsor of a bill in Ohio to dramatically roll back the time in which a woman is allowed to have an abortion in that state.

So he gets interviewed by Al Jazeera and he tells Al Jazeera in the interview that what he really wants is for there to be no legal abortion at all in Ohio except to save a woman's life.

The sentence I'm about to utter is going to sound insane, but it is true.

Republicans in Michigan have passed an initiative that would, in effect, require women to take out brave insurance.

I know. I know. That does not sound like it could be true, but that is what happened yesterday.

This tells women that were raped and became pregnant that they should have thought ahead and bought special insurance for it.

By moving forward on this initiative, Senate Republicans want to essentially require Michigan women to plan ahead and financially invest in health care coverage for potentially having their bodies violated and assaulted.

I was Michigan's Senate Minority Leader, Correction Whittner, who revealed publicly yesterday that she herself is a survivor of rape that happened two decades ago.
