The year 2010. How was it for you?

For America as a whole, it was a mixed year.

The United States was still grappling with the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis.

The economy was slowly recovering, but unemployment remained really high.

Yet, even with the economic turmoil, there were also signs of resilience and a determination to rebuild.

I was attending a relative's wedding in South Carolina.

The town it was being held in was Edisto Island, which is an incredible place right on the beach.

I was slated to be off work the entire week, and a couple days into it, rain started falling in Nashville and the rest of the middle is in the sea.

Heavy rains. Full-on thunderstorms that lasted for two days straight, dumping over 13 inches of rain in Nashville.

Severe flooding was widespread around the city, and I decided to cut my trip short and
