0:05.0	For America as a whole, it was a mixed year.
0:09.0	The United States was still grappling with the aftermath of the 2008 financial crisis.
0:15.0	The economy was slowly recovering, but unemployment remained really high.
0:27.6	The possibility of foreclosure still haunted countless families, and the nation's confidence was fragile.
0:35.6	Yet, even with the economic turmoil, there were also signs of resilience and a determination to rebuild.
0:41.5	The stock market was rebounding, and some people started seeing a light at the end of the tunnel.
0:43.1	Technology continued its rapid evolution in 2010.

0:49.2	The smartphone revolution was in full swing, with devices becoming increasingly sophisticated and essential
0:56.3	to daily life. Instagram also started that year. Social media as a whole was growing exponentially,
1:04.3	transforming the way people communicated and consumed information. For me, the year 2010 was about like any other.
1:12.8	I was obviously working as a 911 one dispatcher back then.
1:16.6	The only hugely significant thing worthy of mentioning on the show was in early May.
1:21.3	I was attending a relative's wedding in South Carolina.
1:24.3	The town it was being held in was Edisto Island, which is an incredible place right on the beach.
1:29.7	I was slated to be off work the entire week, and a couple days into it, rain started falling in Nashville and the rest of the middle is in the sea.
1:38.3	Heavy rains. Full-on thunderstorms that lasted for two days straight, dumping over 13 inches of rain in Nashville.
1:45.5	Severe flooding was widespread around the city, and I decided to cut my trip short and
1:49.7	come back into work. I knew they'd be busy, and they certainly were. But for some people,
1:56.7	in the instance I'll be talking about today, 2010 was by far the worst year they've ever experienced.
