Car accidents happen every day and only rarely make the news but sometimes you hear of one so tragic you can't stop thinking about it.

Last week a woman named Diane Schuller got on the Taconic State Parkway in New York and headed in the wrong direction for nearly two miles.

She collided with a truck and ultimately killed eight people, including her two-year-old daughter,

her three young nieces, and three men in the other vehicle and herself.

At first it was a mystery.

Some suspected she became disoriented or perhaps had an aneurysm.

What other explanation could there be? Hey everybody welcome back to episode 9 of cold case murder mysteries. I'm

your host Ryan Kraus coming at you with an ice pick once again as we examine

the mysterious 2009 Taconic Parkway crash to claim the lives of

eight people and seriously injured another.

On July 26th, shortly after 1.30 PM, a 2003 Ford Windstar Minnie van enters the Taconic State Parkway near Mount Pleasant, New York with 36-year-old Diane Shuler behind the wheel.

Which isn't exactly noteworthy until you realize she did so by way of the exit ramp,

and is driving straight into oncoming traffic at a speed of 85 miles per hour.

With five small children in the vehicle, a bottle of vodka next to her

on the seat and a blood alcohol content of 0.19, which is more than twice the legal limit.

Not to mention the equivalent of a person her size

consuming 10 drinks in a very short period of time.

But was it simply another tragic example of how drunk driving ruins lives?

Or was there something darker at play here? You see, Diane's husband, Danny,

and at least 50 other people she knew, claimed Diane was never once

intoxicated in their presence. In fact, they'd never seen her consume more than a
