Welcome to and appropriately musically explicit edition of the Best of Left podcast

We are in the middle of history right now. It's a history making campaign not by Barack Obama,

although it is by him as well of course for different reasons. But by John McCain,

he's making history and running the dirtiest, ugliest, presidential campaign ever and it

goes unabated. It is now spilled over into rallies for other Republican senators.

Saxby Chambliss in Republican Senator of course at a rally talking about Obama and I'm sorry it

was a debate between the Republican Senator of Saxby Chambliss and his Democratic challenger

and a member in the audience shouts out bomb Obama. So now that's three specific calls for violent

action against Obama. Kill him off of his head and bomb Obama okay. To let alone the yelling of

treason and traitor and and the hooligan and socialist and all other things. Socialists at this

point see it sounds so benign. I'm like oh please bring me back socialist right although as

absurd as that is. So now let me give you some of the quotes from Republicans who are concerned.

John Weaver was a former top strategist for John McCain. Life long friend. Here's his quote.

People need to understand for more reasons and the protection of our civil society. The

difference with Senator Obama are ideological based on clear differences on policy and lack of

experience compared to Senator McCain. And from a purely practical political vantage point,

please find me a swing voter and undecided independent or a torn female voter that finds an

angry mob mentality attractive. He's saying number one, this is ugly morally speaking. Number two,

it doesn't work anyway. You're turning off all the independent voters. And so what are you doing?

And number three, look at what he says. He says it threatens the protection of civil society.
