Welcome back, day two. We're doing a deep dive in Genesis chapter three to really just figure

out what went wrong. And we're going to pick it up in chapter three, verse two. It says,

And the woman said to the serpent, this is after the serpent said, did God actually say,

that you shall not eat of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil. And the woman said to the

servant, we may eat of the fruit of the trees in the garden, but God said, you shall not eat of the

fruit of the tree that is in the midst of the garden. Neither shall you touch it lest you die.

Now, fellas, this is classic legalism. You see, God didn't say anything about touching the tree.

You see, what a legalist is,

as a legalist doesn't believe that God's word is enough, a legalist believes that you have to

add something to God's word because he needs your help. This is what the Pharisees did. You see,

when Jesus would be in obedience with the commands of God, and the Bible says that we should honor

the Sabbath and keep it holy. We should remember the Sabbath because God rested. Well, the Pharisees

added a bunch of laws to what that meant to make sure that they didn't break the law. You see,

sometimes people ask me this question, some theological question, they'll say,

well, what do you think about, fill in the blank? Salvation, uh, eternal security. Um,

what do you think about election? Well, it doesn't really matter what I think. What matters is what

the Bible says. May we be a people who are tethered to the word of God, and may we not add things to it.

And so, he keeps going in verse four.

But the serpent said to the woman, you will not surely die.
