Mary Ann Holder came from rough beginnings.

When she was a young teen, she became friends with a girl named Beth,

her sister Lee, and their musician older boyfriend, Robert Rocky Smith Jr.

She and Rocky fell in love in the way only teenagers can, and at 15, she was pregnant.

Rocky persuaded Marianne's mother to let them marry, and, after a while, the newlyweds lived in the Coco in the Coco Drive home of Rocky's grandparents in North Carolina.
